Bonnie Sampson’s Biography

Bonnie Sampson served as the Communications and Public Relations Director for Johnson City Schools for over a decade.  She was instrumental in creating the Johnson City Public Schools Foundation and was a key component in helping to strengthen community relations.

Sampson, a native of Lebanon, Virginia and a graduate of Radford University, taught at the secondary level and served as a Guidance Counselor prior to being hired as Public Relations Coordinator for Johnson City Schools.

In her role, she made daily contacts with administrators, teachers, and students, always looking for opportunities to effectively communicate Johnson City Schools’ activities throughout the system and to parents and the community.  Recognitions of the School System's outstanding programs, special events, and achievements of staff and students were key components of her program goals.

Sampson valued her associations with community partners, the local media, city officials and chamber members with the intent to keep them apprised of the successes and the needs of Johnson City Schools.
